Genting Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean International have been given the green light to resume their “cruises to nowhere” for Singaporean residents from November 2020.
In light of new safety guidelines that have been developed to prevent the on-board spread of the coronavirus, these cruises will operate at a reduced capacity of 50 per cent.
While Genting Cruise Lines will begin operations on 6 November, Royal Caribbean International will only launch its program in December 2020.
Following the development of The Diamond Princess, a cruise liner that carried more than 700 confirmed coronavirus cases, Singapore had taken a firm stance on disallowing cruise ships to call here since 13 March 2020.
All passengers will have to be tested for COVID-19 prior to boarding and comply with safe management measures, such as mask-wearing and safe distancing between groups of passengers.
